The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) will on June 27, 2023 battle for the Assin North parliamentary seat. The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has settled on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, as the day to hold a  by-election in the Assin North Constituency, barely a month after the Kumawu by-elections. Even before the EC announced the date, the NPP and NDC were in the media claiming to have won the seat in advance, with top officials of either side pitching camp in the Central Regional town of Assin Fosu.
