A recent scientific discovery has shown that Tideglusib, a drug developed for and trialled to treat Alzheimer’s disease happens to promote the natural tooth re-growth mechanism, allowing the tooth to repair cavities. This breakthrough suggests that dental fillings may soon be left in the ash heap of history. The discovery was captured in a press release copied the Ghana News Agency. Tideglusib works by stimulating stem cells in the pulp of teeth, the source of new dentine. Dentine is the mineralized substance beneath tooth enamel that gets eaten away by tooth decay. Teeth can naturally regenerate dentine without assistance, but only under certain circumstances. The pulp must be exposed through infection (such as decay) or trauma to prompt the manufacture of dentine. But even then, the tooth can only re-grow a very thin layer naturally-not enough to repair cavities caused by decay, which are generally deep. Ex-President John Mahama The 13-member Prof Kwesi Botchwey Committee that investigated the causes of the defeat of the then ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 general elections identified the obscene use of money by party gurus as one of the causes. The report says money had taken over the NDC, making the party to go for the highest bidder. A 29-year-old man, Kehinde Ariyo has been arrested for allegedly raping a 85-year-old woman to coma in Ilesa, Osun State. The Osun State Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, who paraded the suspect said that Ariyo raped the aged woman until she passed out. The CP said the woman was later resuscitated at a hospital. The CP added that the old woman sustained serious injury when she was being raped by Ariyo but that she was responding to treatment in hospital. Kumasi Asante Kotoko coach Steve Polack has dedicated the club’s FA Cup triumph to the late Kofi Asare who died in the car crush that wrecked their season.  Asare, the club’s equipment officer, was the one fatality from the accident in May as Kotoko returned to Kumasi after a league game .
