Wiyaala Helps Raise Money For Refugees in London After Chance Meeting in Tamale

Image
Last week, Wiyaala joined the Alyth Refugee Drop In Choir in London for a concert to raise money for the “drop in” and night shelter projects supported by the Alyth Synagogue and Golders Green Parish Church. Wiyaala had previously met Cheryl Brodie, the drop in leader, by chance after a concert in Tamale. Wiyaala loved the idea of the “drop in”, which provides support for refugees from Africa and other parts of the world, regardless of race, religion or disability. There was standing room only as the 250 capacity hall was fully sold out weeks before the highly anticipated event. An enthusiastic audience fully enjoyed the choral ensemble and the charismatic Ghanaian singer’s infectious enthusiasm which had young and old singing and dancing along. The Alyth refugee choir is made up of refugee guests, volunteers and Alyth members. It aims to build confidence and is proud to welcome people from diverse and often difficult backgrounds. The choir was lead by Viv Bellos MBE. Wiyaala is m

#TSRFoodies: Would Y’all Try These Hand-Dipped Grapes?

Image
Roommates, y’all know we’ve come across some food combinations that are untraditional — like these hand-dipped grapes. An LA-based company, DD’z Treatz is giving the chocolate-covered fruit game a run for its money. After his 22-year-old son suffered a sports-related injury, De Andre created DD’z Treatz so he can have an identity outside of football and ultimately, run his own business. DD’z Treatz has a full menu of hand-dipped grape combinations, like candy apple, cookies and cream, and Butterfinger. They even went as far as offering vegan choices, in which the grape is dipped in dark chocolate and then coated in granola. The candy combination grapes are first dipped in white chocolate and then coated it in the candy crumble. The brand is based in LA but guess what?! They also ship to customers nationally. The sweet treat has garnered the attention of many celebrities like DJ Mustard, Dave East, Eli Penny, and Omar Benson Miller, just to name a few. We have to say, this is an i

Man Passes Away Mid-Flight After Ingesting 246 Packets Of Cocaine

Image
#Roommates, a 42-year-old, Japanese man only identified as “Udo N.” unfortunately passed away in the middle of a flight from Mexico City to Tokyo. According to @CNN, the man flew from Bogota, Colombia to the Mexican capital where he then boarded a flight to go to Tokyo. During the flight, crew members noticed a person “suffering convulsions and requested to make an emergency landing in Hermosillo, Sonora.” Once the plane made its emergency landing, paramedics boarded the plane and found that the passenger had died. The autopsy later revealed that the man passed away from an overdose, and 246 packers of cocaine were found in his stomach. After the emergency landing, the plane, carrying 198 people resumed its flight to Japan. Though it is speculation, authorities assume Udo was acting as a drug mule. TSR Sports: NBA Commissioner Personally Spoke To Drake About His Sideline Behavior To Avoid Any Issues Going Into The NBA Finals

Image
#Roommates, the NBA Finals kicks off tonight where the Toronto Raptors will be taking on the Golden State Warriors for the NBA Championship. Given that this is the very first time the Raptors are in the finals, it’s safe to say Drake will be sitting court side cheering on his hometown team. With that being said, during the Eastern Conference Finals, Drizzy made headlines for how he acted on the sidelines and a lot of people took notice, including the NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, who apparently had a conversation with Aubrey and gave him some ‘dos & don’ts’ while he’s court side prior to Game 1. In an interview, Adam Silver explained how he personally spoke to Drake and though he’s appreciative of Drake’s enthusiasm there are certain boundaries he can’t cross while he’s on the sideline.  He went on to say: “I think Drake understands as excited as he is and as appreciative we are of his support that there’s got to be lines drawn. Obviously, you don’t want to end up touching a c
