Tokoroano: Pupils study under death trap as classroom block risk collapse

The lives of pupils and teachers of Tokoroano St Francis Basic School in the Krachi East District, a farming community in the Oti Region, are under serious threat as academic work is conducted in an old dilapidated building with visible cracks and no roof. Personnel who were engaged in the Nation Builders Corps have taken over social media platform Twitter and are agitating over what they describe as a “scam” by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP). According to the personnel, prior to the 2020 elections, they were promised permanent jobs and were made to go for interviews and write aptitude tests but nothing has come out of the process they were made to go through. The personnel say apart from the fact that they have not been given the jobs, they have not been paid for the last two months hence making life very difficult for them. They have expressed the hardship they have had to suffer just because the government has failed to fulfil its part of the bargain. Ghanaian student in Virginia State University arrested for the murder of his colleague

A Ghanaian at the Virginia State University(VSU) in the United States of America (USA) has been caged for his involvement in the murder of a colleagu e. The Police were called upon Dec. 5, shortly before 8 p.m to University Apartments at Ettrick. The body of VSU student Daniel N. Wharton, 19, of Alexandria, with gunshot wounds, was found. Daniel N. Wharton, 19 was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. Isaac K. Amissah Jr. turned himself to the Police. 21-year-old Isaac K. Amissah Jr. has been charged with murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and is currently being held in prison without a bond. C/R: Three teachers fined for impregnating a 14-year-old girl

Three Teachers have been found guilty of impregnating a 14-year-old girl at Twifo Hansogye in the Central region of Ghana. Accra-based OKAY FM is reporting that when the family of the young girl found out about her pregnancy, they confronted her. It was then she disclosed that she slept with three of her teachers in school and therefore they have to take responsibility. The issue was reported to the Palace and the teachers were invited for interrogation which they all agreed to sleeping with the girl. For their punishment, the teachers were asked to pay GHC 5,000 each and also contribute an amount of GHC 100 each every month until the lady gives birth. However, the youth of the area were said to have got wind of the ruling by their Chiefs; a ruling that did not sit well with them hence some level of commotion to register their displeasure at the turn of things. GES committed to distributing laptops despite detractions – STATEMENT

The Ghana Education Service has indicated its commitment to meeting deadlines for the distribution of laptops to Teachers. There is a divided front among teachers over the distribution of laptops to Teachers to aid in teaching and learning.  All Teachers Alliance Ghana (ATAG), is threatening to stage a protest on Wednesday, December 15 over the matter. But in a statement from the Ghana Education Service, Friday said so far 80 per cent of the 62,000 laptops procured for senior high school teachers have been delivered across the country. “This phase is expected to be completed on the 17th of December, 2021.” The statement further indicated that the distribution to teachers in basic and senior high schools will continue in January 2022. The 2021 edition came off December 4, 2021, where the actress received her plaque for the Best Indigenous Actor Female. National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has said that their survey reveals that Fateakwa South district records high numbers in teenage pregnancy, arm robbery, drug addiction and gambling. A former Minister of Finance during the erstwhile John Evans Atta Mills administration, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has been identified as one of the key political figures in Ghana using hair dye popularly known as “yomo” to darken their hair to look younger. Dr. Duffour joins the likes of Agriculture Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and former High Commissioner to South Africa under the John Mahama administration, Kwesi Ahwoi.
