The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on President Akufo Addo to open himself up for transparent and credible investigations by an independent body to clear his name in the bribery scandal involving the former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi. The party’s call comes in the wake of FIFA’s life ban imposed on Mr Nynatakyi on all football related activities. The Ex-CAF Vice President has been fined $500,000 for several breaches of ethics, according to FIFA. He was caught on camera accepting $65,000 “cash gift” from an undercover reporter pretending to be a businessman. The chairperson of the adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee who announced the ban disclosed that the committee found Mr. Nyantakyi guilty of having violated act. 19 (Conflicts of Interest), act 21 (Bribery and Corruption) and act 22 (Commission) of the FIFA Code of Ethics, 2012 edition. Three illegal miners including two Chinese nationals and a Ghanaian accomplice have been arrested at Bosuso in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region. The three, were arrested Tuesday October 30, 2018 by a joint Taskforce of Police and NADMO officials in the area after a tip off. The were caught red handed mining illegally in a cocoa farm.
