The Ghana Police Service has arrested two persons over the death of American Julie Diane Williams. According to the Police, the two are assisting them with their investigation to unravel mystries behind her death. Contrary to earlier reports suggesting the model was here on the request of a “big man” in Ghana, she came to the country from Nigeria. Police say Julie tested positive on arrival on December 3, 2021 and was made to self isolate at the Ave Maria Hotel at South Legon. However, she was picked out of self isolation by some friends on December 6, 2021, several days before her isolation was supposed to be over. Diane Julie is said to have lodged at Rayporsh Hotel at Abelemkpe but lodged out of the hotel to travel back to Nigeria, however, she had issues with her visa and therefore had to come back to Rayporsh hotel. The Ashanti Regional Police Intelligence Unit and Anti-Robbery Squad have confirmed the arrest of three robbery suspects; Dominic Afriyie aged 28 years, Frederick Achar aged 26 years and Richard Simpson aged 23 years, after a targeted special operation at Atasomanso in the Ashanti Region today, December 31, 2021. Police in the Volta Region have arrested some five persons believed to be members of Papavi’s Western Togoland secessionist group. According to the Police, the five were arrested upon a tip-off that they were lodging in a house close to the Denu beach owned by a former assemblyman Francis Bedzo. 193 students of the Tamale Technical University have been rusticated for various acts of exam malpractices during the recently ended examination conducted by the University. In a statement, the University said a total of 196 students reportedly engaged in various forms of examination malpractices including but not limited to carrying foreign materials into the exam hall such as mobile phones, electronic wrist watches, handwritten notes etc. Following a sitting of a Disciplinary Committee for Junior Members, the University has resolved to rusticate for two semesters 193 out of the 196 students. The Academic Board of the University of Ghana has asked the General Secretary Elect for the school’s Students Representative Council (SRC) Stephanie Naadu Antwi to act as President for the SRC. The dismissal letter of Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu from St. Peter’s Secondary School has found its way to the internet showing the Suame MP and Majority leader was dismissed from the school for stealing. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu who was then known as Lawrence Addae, broke into the school’s store to steal provisions for which he was dismissed until further notice. A letter addressed to Mr. J.K Addae, father of Lawrence Addae Kyei Mensah Bonsu and signed by the then Assistant Headmaster of St. Peter’s Secondary School said the school regrets to inform the older Addae of the misconduct of his son which has led to his sack. The Tamale Central Hospital has suspended surgeries until further notice. An internal memo dated December 22, 2021 which has found its way onto social media said this was as a result of the shortage of essential supplies and water to the facility. The suspension of the surgery according to the memo started on December 23, 2021. The new Guan District Assembly faces eviction after the rightful owner of the building being occupied for administrative purposes claims the building was taken illegally. The Ghana Police Service reports that it has gunned down one of the armed robbers suspected to be part of the gang that shot and killed two police officers at Zuarungu in the Upper East Region. Two police officers have been killed and set alight in Zuarungu, Capital of the Bolgatanga East District, by suspected armed robbers after they robbed a mini-supermarket. The troubling incident happened Wednesday, December 14, 2021, within the Central business district of Zuarungu.
