Guan District Assembly faces eviction after illegally hijacking someone’s private building
The new Guan District Assembly faces eviction after the rightful owner of the building being occupied for administrative purposes claims the building was taken illegally.
According to the owner of the building whose name is given as Mabel Seyram Gasu, it was illegally occupied by the District Assembly because she or none of her representatives were consulted before the building was taken over by the District Assembly.
Although efforts have been made by her in writing to ensure that the right thing is done and she is paid rent due her, officials of the District Assembly have treated her with disdain.
MyNewsGh.com sources indicate that Mabel Seyram Gasu wrote to the Assembly giving them an ultimatum of November 18, 2021 to pay her rent for the building which she valued at GHC 8,000 monthly.
However, the District Assembly paid a deaf ear to the letter and therefore she was forced to write to the Local Government Minister.
Parts of a letter written to the Local Government Minister dated December 1, 2021, complaining about the ill-treatment meted to her by officials of the Assembly said “the Officials, particularly, the District Coordinating Director, treated me with disdain as though I had to beg him to either take possession of my facility or negotiate for the payment of rent owed me. Though the November 18, 2021 letter was duly served on him, he has since failed to respond or take steps to meet demands of the letter”.
Meanwhile, the Office of the President in a letter sighted by this portal has responded to the demand for her rent and has asked that it be worked on to ensure that Madam Seyram gets paid her rent.
