The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo says political activities except rallies can take place in the country. This was announced as part of the various measures put in place to ease the various restrictions put in place to fight the deadly COVID-19. The President in his speech said the decision was reached after a consensus was made through cross sector stakeholder consultation. COVID-19: Schools reopened for final year students

President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has announced that schools across the country have been reopened for final year students. According to him, the move is to allow them time to prepare to write their final papers. According to him, the reopening is with the appropriate enhanced safety protocols and social distancing adherence. Final year university students are expected to resume school on Monday, June 15, 2020. President Akufo-Addo has said that Churches and Mosques can start operating across the country on June 5. According to the President, this decision was reached as a result of stakeholder consultations and analysis of data available. He said the country will focus on a phased by phase easing of the various restrictions in the country. Target Temporarily Closes Select Store Locations Amid George Floyd Protest

Amid George Floyd protests, Target has decided to temporarily close a reported 175 locations nationwide, including Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis. According to a statement,”We are heartbroken by the death of George Floyd and the pain it is causing communities across the country. At this time, we have made the decision to close a number of our stores. We anticipate most stores will be closed temporarily,” read a written statement announcing the closures. “Our focus will remain on our team members’ safety and helping our community heal.” It’s also reported that employees will receive up to 14 days pay and are allowed to work at other stores. This comes after Target stores were looted, in response to the tragic death of George Floyd. As previously reported,  Derek Chauvin has been arrested and charged for the death of George Floyd . Ghana’s Borders remain closed

President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo says the country’s borders remain closed till the end of June. The President made this disclosure when he addressed the country for the tenth time after the country recorded cases of COVID-19. “Our borders remain closed until further notice,” he said. The President said the decision was taken as a result of a consensus built through the various stakeholder consultations undertaken over the weeks. Border closure: “Special dispensation” for stranded Ghanaians abroad – Akufo-Addo

File photo Ghana’s borders remain closed to human traffic until further notice, President Akufo-Addo has reiterated. However, notwithstanding the border closure, the government under some special dispensation will reach out to Ghanaians stranded abroad for their evacuation in the coming days. According to the President, they will be subjected to mandatory quarantine and safe protocols upon reaching the country. President Akufo-Addo made this known in a televised address to the nation on Sunday, May 31, 2020. This comes after Two hundred and forty-one (241) Ghanaian deportees on board a Kuwait Aircraft arrived at the Kotoka International Airport last week Saturday from the Gulf State. The deportation happened amid the country’s border closure to human travel as part of international travel restrictions under Ghana’s COVID-19 Response Programme targeted at stopping the importation of the virus. 35 Ghanaian Deportees From Kuwait Test Positive For Covid-19

Thirty-five of the 231 Ghanaians who were deported from Kuwait last week have tested positive for Covid-19. This was confirmed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in its Covid-19 case management update on May 31. The 231 deportees were said to have tested negative for the virus in Kuwait before embarking on the chartered flight to Ghana. However, upon their arrival last Saturday, 23rd May, 2020 the Ghanaians were tested for Covid-19 out of which about 15 per cent tested positive. All the Ghanaians are currently observing their mandatory 14-day quarantine period. The 35 positive cases are part of the 113 more cases that have been confirmed across the country. Ghana’s Covid-19 case count as of May 31, 2020, is 7,881 positive cases. The number of recoveries stands at 2,841 with 36 deaths. Lifting the ban on public gatherings or not: Akufo-Addo speaks today

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to address the country today May 31, 2020, on new measures rolled out to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. Ghanaians are anxious to see if the President will lift the ban on public gatherings after it was extended by some two weeks during the last address but expires tonight. Report: Obuor’s Family Ignore COVID-19 Protocols To Lay Their Father In State, At The Blind Side Of Authorities

The late Nana Boansi Osei Kuffour, who was also the chief for the Juaso Oyoko clan was allegedly laid in state at the weekend on the blind side of local authorities in what many say may be a breach of Covid-19 protocols. Police hunt for Bolgatanga killers

Police within the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region are on a hunt for suspected assailants of a 36-year-old man who was gruesomely murdered close to a guest house. Ayine Abilba was shot at close range by unknown assailants at  Skin Guest House located at Daporetindongo within the Bolgatanga Municipality.
