Border closure: “Special dispensation” for stranded Ghanaians abroad – Akufo-Addo
Ghana’s borders remain closed to human traffic until further notice, President Akufo-Addo has reiterated.
However, notwithstanding the border closure, the government under some special dispensation will reach out to Ghanaians stranded abroad for their evacuation in the coming days.
According to the President, they will be subjected to mandatory quarantine and safe protocols upon reaching the country.
President Akufo-Addo made this known in a televised address to the nation on Sunday, May 31, 2020.
This comes after Two hundred and forty-one (241) Ghanaian deportees on board a Kuwait Aircraft arrived at the Kotoka International Airport last week Saturday from the Gulf State.
The deportation happened amid the country’s border closure to human travel as part of international travel restrictions under Ghana’s COVID-19 Response Programme targeted at stopping the importation of the virus.
