Kokofu, a farming community near Nkaseim in the Asutifi South District of the Ahafo Region was thrown into a state of shock and disbelief early Sunday morning when a 46-year-old palm wine tapper allegedly killed his 30-year-wife and one-year-old son. Information gathered by the Daily Graphic indicates that Kwame Acheampong, the palm wine tapper had been accusing his 30-year-old wife, Akua Safia of cheating and as such did not consider the one-year-old Kwabena Seidu, as his son for a while now. The Goaso District Police Commander, DSP Richard Hornuvo told the Daily Graphic that the incident happened about 6.20 am today. He said police received a distress call at about 6.20 am this morning that Acheampong had murdered Safia and Seidu. Basic Schools in the Keta, Ketu South and the Anloga Municipalities/Districts shall write their Third Term Examinations on chalkboards. This is a directive from the Municipal Director of Education after headteachers allegedly betrayed the municipality by charging higher examination fees last term. This information was contained in a letter sighted by EducationGhana.net dated June 28, 2019, to the Municipal Chief Executives of Keta, Ketu South and the Anloga District by the Keta Municipal Education Director, Mr Michael Yao Tsuikorpe. According to the Municipal Director of Education, he told headteachers to collect GHC7, GHC 8 and Ghc9 from the pupils as exam fees for lower primary, upper and the JHS respectively during the second term examination; however, some headteachers allegedly added certain levies such as PTA levies, to the specified fees. Former Governor of the Bank of Nigeria Prof. Charles Soludo wants the Akufo Addo to introduce one-village one clinic policy to honour the memory of the late Vice President Kwasi Amissah Arthur.
