Report: Obuor’s Family Ignore COVID-19 Protocols To Lay Their Father In State, At The Blind Side Of Authorities
Luv FM reports that the family of popular musician and former president of the Musicians Union of Ghana, Bice Osei Kuffuor, popularly known as Obuor, have ignored COVID-19 protocols set out by Ghana Health Service to lay their late father in state, at the blind side of authorities.
The late Nana Boansi Osei Kuffour, who was also the chief for the Juaso Oyoko clan was allegedly laid in state at the weekend on the blind side of local authorities in what many say may be a breach of Covid-19 protocols.
Against protocols for burying COVID-19 patients, the body of the late prominent chief is alleged to have been transported from Accra, laid in state, and burial rights performed for him at the family house at Juaso in the Asante Akyem Municipality.
The Regional Health Director, Dr. Emmanuel Tinkorang tells Luv News, regional Covid-19 teams were not aware of the burial. “All health teams were not told of this burial, even my Municipal Health Directorate was not informed. I don’t know, maybe they came with their burial team from Accra,” he told Luv News.

However, Obuor’s family say they had permission from the authorities. Speaking on behalf of the family, Agnes Asiamah Boakye said, “We were told he died of Covid-19. But there were rumors that he had being cremated because of his Covid-19 status. Because he is a chief, we had to dispel the rumors”.
“So, we sought permission from authorities for him to be laid in state for a few people to see him, identify him, and pay their last respects. We bought a coffin made of glass covering, so it prevented people from getting into direct contact with the body.” She added.
