Image

I think he will do well if he focuses on his core mandate of fighting crime instead of meddling in matters of faith.” He said “For me, the issue of prophecy is an issue of spirituality, faith and belief. If you don’t believe in it, don’t listen or pay attention to it. It’s as simple as that. But if you you believe in it, know that God reveals to redeem. ‘Impossible-Future-President’ Mahama doesn’t know anything about hardship; he’s ‘dadabee’ – Atubiga

Image
If you thought Stephen Atubiga’s resignation from the National Democratic Congress to form National Liberation Congress meant he will leave John Mahama alone, you may be mistaken as the former NDC member has launched a tirade against the 2020 NDC flagbearer. According to Atubiga  his examination of the Christmas speech given by John Mahama shows a man out of touch with the suffering and feeling of the ordinary Ghanaian footsoldier on the street, describing the speech as “dada bee” speech. Mr. Mahama had bemoaned the hardship the country finds itself in when he read out a Christmas message on social media. But Atubiga believes the former President is only pretending. “Yes, I listened to VanDam’s Christmas speech. The same old daada -bee speech. He knows nothing about real hunger out there on the street. He doesn’t know how the foot soldiers and grassroots are hungry in their homes.” He wrote. Mr. Atubiga further described the former President’s comeback in 2024 as impossible a...

Confusion hits Legon as defeated candidate in SRC election is illegally sworn in President

Image
A Candidate squarely defeated in the last University of Ghana Students Representative Council elections, one Samuel Amos Ofosu has been sworn in via Zoom. The UG SRC presidential election was a keen contest between Prince Asumadu and Amos Ofosu. The pair, both third-year students, allegedly received support from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The first roun...

Image
Investigative Journalist Manasseh Azure has reminded the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the need to learn how to collate their votes. The NDC came under immense pressure from its supporters when it turned out they did not collate their figures in 2020. The party could not provide the country and its supporters especially the number of votes they had during the election. Worrying was the fact that the party could not present a single pink sheet during the supreme court case. Manasseh Azure has in some time past asked the party to learn how to collate their figures because no excuse will be accepted during the 2024 election. He believes that the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government is campaigning for John Dramani Mahama and therefore there are indications that the former President will win the 2024 election. However, the party can lose out if they do not take their collation seriously like they have done in the past. His tweet read “2021 is almost over. NDC, have you now...

KOD Chides Djs in Ghana for promoting foreign music

Image
Kofi Okyere Darko known popularly as KOD has chided Ghanaian Disc Jockeys for promoting foreign songs at the expense of music made in Ghana by Ghanaians. KOD contends that on a scale of 100, Ghanaian Djs are playing only 10% Ghanaian music which is unacceptable. “GH DJs you need to work on your playlists guys…We’re out and there’s 10% GH music on your playlists in December when the whole world is here? Really?” He continued “Are you happy to promote what’s not yours? We need to be intentional to project ours”. There has been several complaints about the lack of support for music in Ghana. Kwaku Baako calls for ‘serious’ punishment for MPs involved in scuffle

Image
Seasoned Journalist, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako said the misconduct of the Members of Parliament with regard to the controversial e-levy should not go unaccounted for. Tension in the House on Monday, December 20, escalated into fisticuffs between the MPs as they threw punches at one another during proceedings. Similarly, in January this year before the formation of the 8th Parliament, some members violently misbehaved in the Legislative House which saw the Tema West Member of Parliament, Carlos Ahenkorah plundering ballot papers in an attempt to abscond but was met with fierce fight from the Minority members. Another similar scene was captured on Wednesday, December 1, where some Minority members further attempted to pull the Speaker’s seat, also resulting in a near-brawl. This according to Kweku Baako is becoming too much and it will only be cut off if the MP’s involved are punished. According to him, those sparking chaos in Parliament must be singled out and appropriate puniti...

Image
Ghanaian Statesman and renowned Economist, Kwame Pianim has expressed shock and worry that Yale trained Minister of Finance for Ghana Ken Ofori Atta has mismanaged Ghana’s economy. Kwame Pianim made this known when he spoke to Berla Mundi on Accra-based Tv3 in an interview. “No he hasn’t done a good job, he borrowed, he’s over borrowed and we are not getting value for money.” He continued “he needs to realise that he’s not just a budget and expenditure Minister, he’s Minister for Finance and Finance means growing the economy. He says we are the fastest growing, the narrative is wrong. No Speaker is impartial – Prof Gyampo urges MPs to build consensus

Image
Political Scientist Professor Ransford Gyampo has argued that Speakers of Parliament are not impartial since they are partisan, advising that Members of Parliament need to build consensus or continue to ‘fight’ in Parliament. His comments come at a time Parliament has been plunged into chaos over the imposition of the electronic transactions levy( E-Levy) on the citizenry. While the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs are hell-bent on ensuring that the tax is imposed, MPs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are opposed to it. At parliamentary sitting to pass a bill imposing the tax, Parliament plunged into chaos with MPs trading blows and hurling insults at one another over whether or not the First Deputy Speaker Joe Osei-Owusu had the right to vote whole presiding as Speaker. For Prof Gyampo, building consensus in Parliament is a sure way to avoid the chaos been witnessed given that the Parliament is a hung one, where the NDC and NPP both have 137 MPs apiece with one independent ...

According to the First Deputy Majority Chief Whip and MP for Tolon, Iddrisu Habib, the Sports Minister who bled profusely from a wound on the forehead was treated for what was believed to be “a cut from a sharp razor blade.” It is unclear how a sharp razor blade found its way into the parliamentary chamber, let alone to be employed during a fistfight involving educated adults who were expected to settle matters through dialogue and mutual respect. Videos circulating on social media after the brawl show the Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif alongside other MPs on the Majority side exchanging hot punches with their counterparts on the Minority side. We suspect that it was the two dirty slaps which landed straight on Hon. Ussif’s face from the Sout...
