Video: Raphael Amponsah’s wonderful goal that delivered maximum points for Hearts against Accra Lions

Debut goals are the stuff of dreams. When they happen to be an 86th minute winner, it makes it even better.

That was case of Hearts of Oak’s Raphael Amponsah in the Ghana Premier League yesterday.

Since signing from Asekem FC, the forward has settled for a bit part role. But on Tuesday, he had his chance to stake a claim for more game time and took full advantage.

With the contest delicately poised at 1-1, Amponsah delivered one of his trademark finishes to settle the match.

Hamzah Issah recycled an over hit cross and found a simple pass to Amponsah. That was all the technically gifted forward needed as he rifled it into the top right corner of the goal, far beyond the keeper’s reach.

Hearts had taken an early lead when Hamza Issah headed home a Salifu Ibrahim free kick after just five minutes.

Twenty-one minutes lates, the enterprising Abass Samari would cancelled the lead after his header went in after deflecting off Kofi Agbesimah.

However, the Phobians would have the last say when Raphael Amponsah rifled home from distances with just four minutes remaining.

The Phobians held on for the crucial win against the home team to move further away from the relegation zone.

Hearts have now moved to 9th position with 15 points, while Lions remain in 14th position with 13points.
