Club did not tell me! Pochettino reveals Chelsea kept him in the dark over Cole Palmer transfer
Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has disclosed the club did not inform him when it decided to sign Cole Palmer from Manchester City.
On Wednesday, Chelsea agreed to pay £40m for the 21 year-old England international.
Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-1 win over AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday, Pochettino revealed he was neither consulted nor informed.
“I don’t know nothing at the moment,” the Argentinian said “The club still don’t tell me.”
Chelsea’s directors Todd Bohly and Behdad Eghbali have gained notoriety for almost micro managing the football side of things at the club.
Two weeks ago, the pair infamously asked co-technical directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart to step aside from negotiations with Brighton & Hove Albion for the transfer of Moises Caicedo.
The pair were an ever present feature in the Chelsea dressing room throughout last season.
Although Pochettino’s personable nature is well known, it remains to be seen the limits to which Chelsea’s controlling directors will go to test the Argentine coach.
