GHALCA TOP4: Gold Stars to replace Asante Kotoko

Ghana Premier League side Bibiani Gold Stars will replace Asante Kotoko in this year’s Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top 4 competition.

This follows Asante Kotoko’s decision to pull out of the annual preseason tournament.

Asante Kotoko, who recently constituted a four member Interim Management Committee, are yet to begin their preseason preparations, influencing their decision not to participate in the tournament.

Since the decision was communicated to GHALCA, a number of clubs, including MTN FA Cup winners, Dreams FC, were considered as possible replacements.

However, GHALCA settled on Gold Stars, who finished in fifth place in their debut Ghana Premier League season.

Gold Stars will join Premier League champions, Medeama Sporting Club, Bechem United, and Aduana Stars to compete for this year’s GHALCA Top 4.

The tournament, which will be hosted at the Baba Yara Stadium, will start on 6th August and end on 13th August 2023.
