Ask for fire stations too in your demand for developmental projects -Ghanaians told
The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), D.O 3 Peter Addai has urged Ghanaians to also in their social developmental demand, also ask for more fire tenders and stations.
The ratio of fire stations and tenders in Ghanaian society to what exists is nothing to write home about; this has caused lives and property when there are fire disasters.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com D.O. 3 Addai charged Ghanaians to also demand fire stations in their various localities.
“We want everybody to understand that in their quest to get social amenities in their areas, they should not lose sight of the fact that fire station is important because whatever we do, fire is surroundings us, so if you are calling for the police stations, schools and the clinics let’s not forget that we also need fire stations to come and quench the fires for us when they do fire in the community”
“Let’s have in mind that a whole town can get burned because of fire, there are numerous examples for us to see in other places, the Chicago fires etc, we should place priority on fire stations too” he added.
D.O 3 Addai noted that sometimes negative commentary by the public about them though hurtful will not stop them from giving off their best when they are called upon.
“Our calling is to serve the public, firemen are doing a lot to save society, and they are putting their lives on the line. People run away from fire but we face the fire because that is our calling”
“We hear all the things sometimes people say, we arrive late, no water in our tenders and all sort of things but we are in to serve and they need to get the education of our work and they will be willing to help us. People must know our phone numbers and call us on time when there is a fire”. He advised.
