I’ve told my friend Bawumia to discard his flagbearership ambition – Former NPP MP
Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwadaso Constituency, Hon Samiu Kwadwo Nuamah has revealed that he has told Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to discard his ambition of becoming flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP).
He is of the view that this is not the time for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to dream of leading the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“Veep is my very good friend. I told him before I joined the Alan Kyerematen campaign. I told him that this is not the time,” he said on Kumasi-based Angel FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
Arguing his position why Dr Mahamudu Bawumia should step aside for others to lead the NPP he said “the economic situation again doesn’t favour us. Tanko at the time we were doing so well as a political party we had 169 seats in Parliament but now our seats have been reduced to 137.
So comparatively, if you compare our first term when we were doing so well and the fact that our numbers in Parliament reduced drastically, what are the numbers you think we will have this time around that the economy is in shambles and we are struggling? If you’re being truthful and sure of breaking the eight, you’ll know that it will do us no good if we present the same team and the same old faces,” he said.
