OFFICIAL: Ronaldo signs two years for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia

Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has joined Al Nassr, confirming his long-rumored move to Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo’s second stint at Manchester United ended bitterly in late November, and he was heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League team.

In a contentious interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo, who has only scored one Premier League goal this season after slipping down the United hierarchy, said he had no respect for head coach Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils cut off their relationship with Ronaldo soon after the start of the World Cup in Qatar as a result of that remark and the player’s claim that United had “betrayed” him.

Al Nassr emerged as the favorite, and the transfer of the 37-year-old was formally announced on Friday.

According to reports, Ronaldo has agreed to a two and a half-year contract for £62 million (€69.9 million) annually.

“History in the making,” Al Nassr tweeted.

“This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves. Welcome @Cristiano to your new home @AlNassrFC.”

Ronaldo’s move is seen as effectively bringing down the curtain on one of the greatest careers in the history of elite European Football.

The five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or trophy has won the Champions League five times, four times with Real Madrid and once with Manchester United. His 140 goals are the most ever scored in Europe’s top club competition.
