2022 World Cup: Black Stars are confident enough to beat Uruguay – Otto Addo
Black Stars coach Otto Addo says his boys are confident enough to beat Uruguay when they meet on Friday in their 2022 World Cup final group game.
The Borussia Dortmund assistant coach reveals they will not be seeking to avenge the painful defeat Suarez and Uruguay inflicted on the Black Stars in 2010.
Ghana may go to the round of 16 at the cost of Uruguay with a draw, depending on the outcome of the other group match between Portugal and South Korea.
Otto Addo claims forgiving others would bring you great rewards from God, in contrast to the numerous Ghanaians who are intent on retaliating against Uruguay and Suarez for their sad loss in South Africa.
“The good thing is that, in the end, a draw could also be good for us but we want to win this game. I’m not too much thinking about revenge. It’s for me a normal game,” he told the GFA media.
“Surely, I also was really, really sad in 2010 when I watched the scenes and yeah it was a big chance for Ghana to proceed to the next stage but it’s yeah 12 years ago and now it’s different.
“It’s a different match, different approach. Also, I don’t see it for me. It’s not revenge and I’m not a person who’s seeking revenge.
“I’m a strong believer that, if you don’t seek revenge, sometimes you even get more blessings from God.
“We will try to do our best to win this match and I think we’re confident enough to know that we can beat them.”
The Black Stars are second in Group H with three points from their first two group games and need all their might at work on Friday against Uruguay to secure qualification to the last 16.
