Kwame Nkrumah was no saint but deserves praises – NPP’s Felix Donkor
Ghana’s first President Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah merits some praise for vision and development, but he also had a dastard side as a leader too.
With a wave of continuous praise been heaped on Ghana’s former President Kwame Nkrumah for his seven-year developmental plan that saw a massive drive for industries and development, an NPP communications team member within the Ashanti Region, Felix Donkor notes that the bad side of Nkrumah must also be given spot for Ghanaians to learn.
Speaking on Kumasi-based local station Ultimate FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the NPP man concedes Dr. Nkrumah did well but he was no saint as some want Ghanaians to believe.
‘‘Nkrumah inherited a good economy from the British, he did well in his early days but things got out of hands too’’
‘‘The man was not a saint, he had a bad side, he detained people wrongly, people suffered under him, that is a situation of fact and history’’ he said.
‘‘While he did well, it must be known that he did bad too, let us highlight that so Ghanaians can learn from that too’’
Mr. Donkor intimates that the NDC which has suddenly become apostles of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s vision must not be trusted as they diversified all the factories of the former president.
‘‘Very funny to hear the NDC, talking good about Kwame Nkrumah, when they sold all his factories to themselves’’
‘‘Former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings even bought some of the factories, during the PNDC era’’
