WAFU B CWCL qualifiers: Ampem Darkoa through to final after beating Africa Sports
Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies are through to the final of the WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
The Ghanaian champions defeated Ivory Coast side Africa Sports D’Abidjan 6-5 on penalties at the Stade De Yamoussoukro in Ivory Coast on Wednesday afternoon.
The game ended 1-1 after extra-time.
Africa Sports D’Abidjan took the lead after only two minutes into the game after a lightning start from the hosts team.
After going into the break down, Gladys Amfobea pulled parity for the Techiman-based club at the hour mark.
The game could not be settled in regulation time and had to travel to extra-time. There was still no winner after 120 minutes of football.
The game was to be decided on penalties. Ampem Darkoa eventually won 6-5 on penalties after the goalkeeper saved the sixth kick of the Ivorians.
Nana Joe Adarkwa’s ladies will play the winner of the second semifinal game between Bayelsa Queens of Nigeria and Togo’s Espoir.
