President Akufo-Addo sacks embattled Commissioner of Customs Col Damoah after spat with Special Prosecutor

Colonel ( Rtd) Kwadjo Damoah who is having a faceoff with Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyabeng over the LaBianca Customs avanced ruling saga has been asked by President Akufo-Addo to handover his duties to one of his deputies, citing the expiration of Colonel Damoah’s contract of service.

The directive to Colonel Damoah took effect last Friday August 26, 2022.

“Following the expiration of your contract of service as Commissioner (Customs Division) of the Ghana Revenue Authority on 13th October 2021, the President of the Republic has directed that effective Friday 26th August 2022, you hand over your duties and office to the acting Deputy Commissioner ( Preventive Division)…,” a letter signed by the Secretary to the President Nana Asante Bediatuo said.

Col Damoah has been in a tangle with the Special Prosecutor after the Special Prosecutor implicated him in a Customs advanced ruling which unduly favoured the LaBianca Company, importers of frozen goods…
