Felix Afena-Gyan bids AS Roma farewell ahead of imminent move to Cremonese
Ghana youngster Felix Afena-Gyan has bid his farewell to AS Roma ahead of an imminent move to newly promoted Italian Serie A side U.S Cremonese.
The 19-year-old joined the AS Roma U-19 side in the 2020/21 season after playing in an inter-school competition where he was scouted.
Jose Mourinho promoted him to the AS Roma senior team when he took over in the 2021/22 season and he played 17 games, scoring two goals.
Ahead of the 2022 Fifa World Cup, Afena-Gyan is looking to play more games and get Black Stars selection for the tournament.
A move to the Cremona-based club is now imminent. Afena-Gyan took to social media to bid AS Roma farewell before the official announcement.
“I’m grateful to AS Roma, the technical team and staff, for the precious opportunity and support I have enjoyed in the last one and half years,” he posted on Twitter.
“My utmost love to the manager Jose Mourinho. The last seven months with you have totally changed my life. Thank you for believing in me.
“To my former teammates and the Roma fans, I cherish the wonderful moments we shared together.
“Thank you, Mr. Alberto De Rossi, for the role you’ve played in my growth. It was a huge honour to put on the Roma shirt.”
