Asamoah Gyan explains why moving to Al Ain is the best decision he made in his career

Asamoah Gyan has explained why signing for UAE club Al Ain from Sunderland is the best decision he made in his football career.

The former Udinese forward shocked everyone in 2011 when he left the then Premier League outfit to join the Emirati club on loan for a fee around 7million euros, before making the move permanent the following season.

The decision was surprising to many because he had a good Premier League campaign the previous year and also playing a starring role in Ghana’s historic 2010 World Cup journey.

Explaining why the deal was good on the Dentaa Show, Gyan took a swipe at Ghanaians for disagreeing with his decision to move to the UAE.

“Moving to Al Ain was the best decision I made in my career. From the money that I got; I have made investments and created employment.

“I have created employment for the same people who were insulting me. I pay taxes.”

The 36-year-old further explained former club Sunderland needed the money and, therefore, persuaded him to sign for Al Ain.

“Sunderland needed money at that time, they persuaded me to move to Al Ain,” Gyan added.

“I asked them if the fans were going to be happy I’m leaving. They said they knew how to deal with the fans.”
