WAEC Chair Visits Nigeria’s Education Minister
The Chairman of the Council of West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Prof. Ato Essuman today met with the Minister of Education of Nigeria, Adamu Adamu.
This was when he paid a courtesy call on him at his office at the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria to officially introduce himself to him as the current Chairman of Council.
Prof. Essuman expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for creating an enabling environment which has allowed WAEC to run its operations in the country for the past 70 years.
According to Essuman, Nigeria stands out in the comity of WAEC’s member nations in the discharge of its obligations.
The WAEC Chairman also seized the opportunity to seek the Federal Government’s financial assistance in the procurement of a special digital printing machine to further aid the Council’s rendering of its essential services to the nation’s vital education sector.
Prof. Essuman, an accomplished civil servant is a Ghanaian.
He retired as the Chief Director at the Ministry of Education and has since his retirement, continued to serve the country in different capacities even as he is currently on his third term as a member of the Council of State.
His association with WAEC dates back from 1999 to 2009 when he became a member of various committees of the Council both at national and international levels.
He is the 20th Chairman of the WAEC Council as he succeed Baboucarr Buoy who was the 19th Council Chairman.
Prof. Essuamn is the current Dean of the Faculty of Education and Entrepreneurship at Methodist University College, Ghana.
