NPP doesn’t want the Russia-Ukraine war to end; using it as cover up for failures – Katanga

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has alleged that the New Patriotic Party (NPP)  is praying the war between Russia and Ukraine will persist, so they continue to attribute that to their monumental failure in managing Ghana’s economy.

The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta at the midyear review has again blamed Ghana’s economic woes on the Russian-Ukraine war and the global pandemic COVID-19 pandemic.

The minister admitted the negative effect on the country’s economy, of the Russia Ukraine war but however confident the Government is committed to putting down pragmatic measures to deal with the global crisis.

However reacting to the midyear budget review and other matters monitored by MyNewsGh.com, an NDC party communicator and a hopeful for the deputy Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer position, Emanuel Katanga, on ultimate 106.9 FM, alleged that listening to the Finance Minister and other appointees of the government continuously blaming Ghana’s current economic predicament to the Russia invasion of Ukraine is unfortunate.

‘‘Honestly, I know the NPP, Nana Addo and his finance Minister, don’t want the Russia – Ukraine war to end, they are happy and wish it does not end, so the least talk about Ghana’s economy in tatters they blame Russia, Ukraine’’

‘‘I mean, how do you blame other countries for your poor management of things? They are just inept, they wish the war carries through to 2024 when we go to the polls’’ he said.

The NDC man noted that the NPP has a penchant for blaming others for things they have done badly. First, it was Mahama, then COVID-19 now Russia – Ukraine.

‘‘ First, the NPP was blaming, the Mahama administration for its bad governance, then it moved to Covid and now Russia-Ukraine, they are just waiting for the next calamity to blame when they are fed up and realize nobody is taking them serious ’’

However, on Monday’s midyear budget review, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta was hopeful the NPP-led Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration can turn this around.

“These are not good times for the World, Africa, Ghana and globally and I must say the government is still on focus to help recover from the global economic crisis. When the NPP Government took power in 2017, the NDC had sent Ghana to the IMF which we worked hard to get out of the program in 2019” the minister stated.

He stressed the NPP is known to be the best party to turn things around whenever it succeeds the government of the opposition.
