Obengfo advertising body surgeries, lipo options despite death controversies

Advanced Body Sculp Hospital owned and run by one Obengfo known in real life as Dr. Dominic Obeng-Andoh has resumed full operation and inviting clients for business despite the controversies surrounding the facility.

The Hospital and its doctor who have been subjects of bad news over the years last cane to negative prominence after the death of Stacy Offei Darko, the former Deputy CEO of the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Programme (NEIP) who went to the facility for liposuction in 2018.

Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure used to remove unwanted body fat. It involves sucking out small areas of fat that are hard to lose through exercise and a healthy diet. It’s carried out on areas of the body where deposits of fat tend to collect, such as the buttocks, hips, thighs and tummy.

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong who has a daughter with Stacy disclosed that his then 37-year-old baby mama went to reduce [the size of] her hands and thighs.

He was speaking in an interview on Net 2 television following the arrest of Dr. Dominic Kwame Obeng-Andoh at the time.

Several persons who were interested in the services Obengfo offered turned away from him as he was put before court. The Medical and Dental Council shut down the Obengfo Hospital for operating illegally without license. It was revealed that the council first revoked Dr. Obeng-Andoh’s licence in 2013 for operating illegally and had to close him down in 2015 and also in 2017 but on all occasions as he is doing now, he reopened and came back to business.

According to the Council, Dr. Obeng-Andoh’s practice was dangerous to the lives of his patients hence the move to stop his operations.

As at Press Time this morning, the Hospital continues to operate inviting clients to come for liposuction and other sessions for body enhancement.

On the few occasions when Dr Obeng-Andoh waa charged to court, he had been aquitted either on Technicalities or due to repeated absence of the prosecution.

On the death of Stacy Offei Darko, Obengfo in an interview in 2018 said the former Deputy CEO of NEIP came to his hospital for liposuction and that everything went well, he claimed.

According to him, Stacy has been to his facility twice between her death was reported.

He said: “My client came for liposuction and I later heard that she had died but she didn’t die as a result of the liposuction because there were no complications associated with the procedure.”

“She has been at my hospital twice and so why would she come back again for the second time if indeed we didn’t do a good job,’ he quizzed.

He also rebuffed claims that Stacy died at his facility and the body was kept there for days before the bereaved family was informed.

Police bribe allegations

Mother of the late Stacy Offei Darko said she suspects foul play in the case involving the death of her daughter who believed died from Dr. Obeng-Andoh’s negligence.

Nana Akosua Animah told Citi News then that despite several follow-ups to the Police and the Medical and Dental Council, nothing was being done to bring Dominic Obeng Andoh to book.

The Medical and Dental Council indicated that the Police have forwarded the docket to the Attorney General’s office for advice but Nana Akosua Animah said she is surprised the facility is still in operation.

“I really do not know what is happening with my late daughter’s case. When I went to the CID headquarters, I was told the case was being prepared for court but Obengfo has been bailed and is still operating illegally. The last I heard, the docket had been sent to the AG’s office.

“I have been to the Medical and Dental Council yet they say they do not have the power to shut down the place but the man is still operating and people are dying every day. I believe Obengfo is paying bribe to the people and that is why they are not following up on the case.”
