Ex-British soldier blames government over poor crowd control by Police
An Ex-British Soldier Ntim Kwaku Twumasi is blaming the government for the unprofessional conduct of some security personnel in Ghana especially the police for failing to provide them with the requisite logistics for crowd control.
According to him, police personnel is pushed to demonstration and crime scenes without the needed logistics provided by the state to enable them to function effectively.
On Kumasi-based Fox FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he observed that the recent clash between police and students of Islamic Senior High School (SHS) in Kumasi is as a result of failure on the part of technocrats with the Ghana Highways Authorities.
‘Why were the road rumps not fixed early? Who is responsible for that? I blame technocrats and governments who are supposed to provide the logistics and also ensure lives and properties are protected’, NTK told to host, Sir John.
The Ex-military man however jumped to the defense of police who were sent to the school in the case of Kumasi ostensibly stop the rioting students from demonstrating against Authorities.
‘The Police are not super humans to use their bodies as protective shields when stones, clubs, cutlasses and others are being hurled at them. The Police can only use their scarce resources.
‘Every divisional command should be resourced with modern crowd control equipment to deal with situations within their jurisdiction. Equip them before you blame them. It’s time to retool them adequately’, Mr. Ntim Kwaku Twumasi pointed out
