Akufo-Addo’s abysmal performance is not a guarantee for NDC’s 2024 victory – Yamoah Ponko
Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu Mr. Afrifa Yamoah Ponko has cautioned his fellow party members not to dwell on the abysmal performance of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo because that does not guarantee their victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general elections.
“Let me send this warning to my fellow party members, Akufo-Addo’s lies and abysmal performance does not mean when you (NDC) go to elections you are going to win. That is not true, it doesn’t work like that”, Mr Afrifa Yamoah Ponko warned on Pure FM Kumasi.
He urged the NDC to rather focus on working hard, get hard working people and communicate well their message for Ghanaians to understand them which would help them in their quest for victory.
The major opposition party in the country in both 2016 and 2020 general elections lost to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in both elections.
Some contributory factors for their loss especially in 2016 was corruption and mismanagement of the country’s economy which hitherto became a campaign tool of the then opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Six years on after President Akufo- Addo took power, critics and citizens accused him of the same mistakes the NDC did back in 2016.
Political analysts and social commentators say Akufo-Addo’s regime is characterized by hardship and worst corruption compared to the regime of his predecessor

But Mr Yamoah Ponkor speaking to Kwame Adinkra on the Pure Morning Drive insisted that his party needs competent people to lead them to victory against the NPP.
“We need men, people who can talk to make the party visible so that, they will bring the NDC and John Dramani Mahama back to power to bring the country to the right path”, he insisted.
