Why I’m tagged as an NPP member – Asamoah Gyan speaks

Former Captain of the Black Stars Asamoah Gyan has broken his silence on why he has been tagged as a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, he has never aligned with any political party as his interest has always been to ensure that the people of Ghana benefit entirely from him.

Asamoah Gyan said that he has always been tagged as a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because NPP started in his family.

He traces his root to Dr Abrefa Busia indicating that he was his Uncle and contributed to his father coming to Accra.

However, he does not support any political party because of his stature in society and the fact that he was built to work with any political party that is in power in the country.

“I’m neutral, I don’t align to any political party. I’ve been the Captain of Black Stars and so I can’t align with any political party because you don’t know the party that will come to power. I’m tagged as an NPP because NPP comes from my family. Busia brought my father from Wenchi to Accra so people tag me as NPP. I’m neutral and I’ll be open to any form of appointment from any political party,” he said on Sompa FM.
