Ghana has been looted – Development Economist
A Development Economist and Lecturer at the University for Development Studies(UDS) Michael Ayamga-Adongo says Ghana’s poor economy should not be blamed on COVID-19 or the war between Ukraine and Russia.
Rather, the country has been looted by a few people who have made life very difficult for the people of Ghana.
He was reacting to the display of money in the NPP Regional election indicating that there is money but in the pockets of a few people.
Adongo-Ayamga said “Every day we receive bad news about our economy. If we are not being downgraded it is news that we are now among the countries most likely to default. The working class need three and half times of their salaries to be able to afford the life they had before Akufo addo and Bawumia.
We have taxed everything to the point of taxing people for having more 100 GHS to spend. I cannot believe that despite the levels of suffering and destitution in our country today, we are seeing such grotesque and vulgar display of money just to elect party officials.
If you add this to Sir John’s will and the many instances of state capture, you will understand why you and I are suffering. It’s not Covid. It’s not Ukraine. Ghana has been looted”.
The NPP on Friday and Saturday elected Regional Officers who will lead the country in the 2024 elections to break the eight.
