Chief of Sagnarigu donates GHc20k to UDS Endowment Fund

The Paramount Chief of the Sagnarigu Traditional Area, Sagnar Naa Ambassador Yakubu Abdulai has donated an amount of twenty thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 20,000) to the University for Development Studies Endowment Fund, (UDSEF).

The donation was in fulfillment of a promise made by him during the Launch of the fund in
many well-wishers who were present pledged various amounts of money amounting to a total of One hundred and Forty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 140,000).

The cash donation was received on behalf of the University, by the Director of Finance, Dr.
Mohammed Hardi Shaibu, and the Director of ICT, Dr. Abdul Wahid Mohammed.

Dr Shaibu, while commending the Sagnar Naa for being true to his word, requested his representative, Garizie Naa Alhassan Andani to convey the gratitude of the University to the Paramount Chief.

He expressed the view that supporting needy students is a capital investment to the nation, and that the donation would serve the critical needs of the students. He disclosed that the University is committed to enhancing the Endowment Fund in the next five years to One Hundred MillionGhana Cedis (GHC 100, 000,000). He said the management of UDS will keep the chief posted on how the funds will be managed.

Meanwhile, the Management of the University says its attention has been drawn to a publication making the rounds on social media and some blogging sites on the internet, which publication alleges that some persons within the University have engaged some other parties regarding the so-called “sale” of the land on which the University’s Tamale Campus is located. The University for Development Studies says it dissociates itself in its entirety, from the said publications.

The Management insists that for the avoidance of doubt, neither has the University engaged anyone in any discussions regarding the sale of any of its lands nor has the University authorized the authorship and publication of any story regarding same, in any traditional media, social media or blogging platforms.

The University says it has no plans to sell any of the lands belonging to it, to any individual,
group or organization. In view of this, therefore, genuine stakeholders of UDS and the general
public are advised to disregard such information about the institution as contained in the said
publications.
