NPP China Dep. Secretary Dr. Ohene Opoku resigns from party; joins NDC

Dr. Ohene Poku, a leading and active figure of the New Patriotic Party NPP branch in China has announced his resignation from the party and joining the opposition National Democratic Congress NDC.

The academic, Dr. Ohene Poku popularly known as Uprising made the announcement on his social media page on Facebook. 

At the time of his resignation, he was serving NPP China as Deputy Secretary. He did not immediately provide any reasons for his resignation. 

He however announced that he is in the process of publishing his resignation letter from the party. 

“I have resigned from the NPP and joined the NDC. I am now a member of the NDC. I am in the throes of publishing my resignation letter. I was the Deputy Branch Secretary NPP China. I welcome the media” He posted.

Dr. Ohene’s resignation comes less than two weeks after some 50 NPP youth in the Cape Coast South Constituency in the Central Region crossed carpet to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The group said their decision was hinged on the passage of Electronic Levy (E-Levy) bill by the Akufo-Addo led government.

The defected youth who are known NPP members in the Ekon Electoral Area in the Cape Coast South Constituency said they least expected the Akufo-Addo government will mismanage the country as it is doing now and have regretted campaigning and voting for the NPP.

Dr. Ohene Poku is yet to state his reasons for ditching the NPP after so many years serving the party from Ghana to China where he is an Executive Member.
