Akufo-Addo derailing gains of democracy; wants to introduce dictatorship – Mahama
Former President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama says the current government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo wants to bring back the days of dictatorship in Ghana.
John Dramani Mahama is of the view that considering the happenings under the current government, it is clear that the gains made with democracy are gradually derailing.
The former President made this known when he was speaking at the 4th summit of the NDC Professionals Forum in Kumasi on Friday, March 29.
“There is a deliberate effort by Nana Akufo-Addo to roll back the democratic regime we have gained as a country”
He added that the “Behaviour of this current administration mimics the behaviour of brutal dictatorship”.
The NDC 2020 flagbearer used the opportunity to remind the government of the need to provide an audited account for monies spent during the early days of COVID-19.
This was after he had said same while addressing an audience at the Havard Business School some weeks ago.
“…to make matters worse a pandemic windfall in excess of Ghs33bn which could’ve cushioned the economy remain unaudited and it is believed to have been used largely in a quest to win election 2020 at all cost” he told participants.
“The only way you can prove me wrong and say that that money was not used for election 2020 is to allow an independent forensic audit into how the money was used,” he added.
