We as a govt will pass e-levy and nobody can do anything about it – Nhyeaso MP
Member of Parliament for Nhyeaso in the Ashanti Region Stephen Amoah has said that the e-levy which has been vehemently been opposed by the Minority in Parliament will be passed and the Minority cannot do anything about it.
He contends that the Minority has seen the good in the levy and therefore is doing everything to oppose it because it will bring the needed development to Ghana and give the NPP a good will.
He insist that the NPP is in government and will therefore not succumb to any pressure from the Minority to withdraw the levy that has seen opposition even from citizens.
“Whatever they want to do, we we will pass it at the right time and they can’t do anything. We are in government and if they claim they will make us unpopular why won’t they stop because they know this is going to transform and change the lives of Ghanaians, they know this is going to reverse the consequences of the COVID, they know this is going to put our fiscal space in the right perspective and they are afraid that Ghanaians will continue to build their good will and confidence in this government. So please, we need the e-levy,” he said in an interview with TV3.
On the argument of reducing the e-levy from 1.75% to 1% of transactions, Stephen Amoah indicated that people who are pushing that argument have not backed their argument with data and therefore should provide the needed data to support calls for the reduction of the proposed 1.75%.
