Woes of Xavier Sosu deepen as court issues bench warrant for his arrest
The Kaneshie District Court in Accra has today November 30, 2021, issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency Francis Xavier Sosu.
Francis Xavier Sosu has for some time been a subject of controversy after he failed to appear before the Police when he was invited for organizing a demonstration and blocking roads to drum home the needs of his people.
The lawmaker was not in court on Monday when the warrant was issued but his Lawyer Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu told the court he was a ranking member on the legal and Constitutional Committee of Parliament and therefore could not make it to court because the Committee was sitting on the Anti-Gay bill.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sylvester Asare who is the lead prosecutor told the court that the conduct of the lawmaker is an indication that he does not want to appear before the court.
The Prosecutor relying on Sections 167 of Act 30, prayed the court to issue a bench warrant for the arrest of the lawmaker.
While granting the request for the bench warrant His Worship Oheneba Kuffour said there has been too much “deception” in the system.
