VIDEO: He helped Ghana discover oil – Parliament eulogizes late Kofi Adda
Ghana’s Parliament has paid glowing tribute to the late Joseph Kofi Adda, who served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo for more than a decade.
Mr Adda also served as Minister for several portfolios including being Minister of Aviation before his death this year.
Contributing to this on the floor of Parliament earlier today, Hon. Habib Iddrisu, MP for Tolon Constituency described the late Adda as someone who contributed immensely to the development of the country. He noted that he brought a lot of reform to sectors of the economy which he supervised as Minister.
“He is a man who really lived his and contributed immensely to the development of the country. If we all remember in 2005 when he was appointed Minister for Manpower and Employment, he brought a lot of reform to that sector. And in 2006, he was made the Minister of Energy. It was during his term as Minister of Energy that we discovered oil,” he said.
Mr Adda was a stalwart of the NPP in the Upper East Region. He served as MP for Navrongo Central for a total of thirteen years. He was a major power broker in the Upper East Region until his demise.
Kofi Adda died on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Legon Hospital where he was rushed for medical attention after he complained of feeling dizzy.
A source told MyNewsGh.com that he died of heart failure after an autopsy carried out at the Ga East Hospital in Accra.
He was 65 and is survived by a wife and two children.
