Security recruitment: Gov’t faces lawsuit for disqualifying youth based on height, stretch marks
Convenors of #FixTheCountry movement have served notice that they will sue the Government for disqualifying young people seeking employment into the security services on the basis of height, stretch Marks, tattoos and several other qualification benchmarks.
Over the past several days, thousands of young people seeking to serve the country in the various security agencies have been turned for not meeting some criterion such as being short or having tattoos among others.
Lead Convenor of the movement Mawuse Oliver Barker-Vormawor had criticized the height requirement, saying that it was ironic that the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, the President, is short yet short people cannot serve in the security services.
Now though the movement is calling on all young people disqualified on such frivolous grounds to inform the movement so that a class action can be filed on their behalf.
“If you or anybody you know was disqualified for whatever reason during the recent security sector recruitments, kindly send an email to legal@ghfixthecountry.org
We want to sue the Government on your behalf. You are not alone. We want to build a class-action lawsuit against the State. Please share this widely. We need as many plaintiffs as possible.
Not every injustice should be just talk!” Barker-Vormawor announced.

The move has been welcomed by many who had seen the criteria as untenable.
