Taking pictures with Mahama doesn’t show support, vigilance is real support – Haruna Iddrisu
Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tamale South Constituency Haruna Iddrisu has indicated that vigilance will win the National Democratic Congress (NDC) power in the 2024 election.
According to him, it’s not about running to take photos with the 2020 flagbearer but rather a return to the roots as NDC and policing the ballot box that will win the party the power they have been looking for.
“It is not about running to take photographs with him thinking that is how you are contributing to the success of the NDC, I don’t think going to take pictures with him means he has won. I think we should go back to our roots as NDC with operation win your ballot box,” he said.
“The NDC will call for greater transparency, especially at the collation of the results. Zero-tolerance for 2024 will be our declaration, and we will police the ballot. I always say that for persons who love President Mahama and want his return just as I want, go to your polling station and make sure he wins. Nothing more. If he wins at the 33,000 polling stations, he will be the next President of the Republic,” he added while speaking in an interview on Accra-based Citi TV.
The NDC is yet to open nomination for persons to declare their interest in contesting for the flagbearership of the party.
Several names have popped up including that of Dr. Kwabena Duffour but there have been calls on the party to maintain the former President John Dramani Mahama who they believe has been well marketed and can wrestle power from the NPP.
The former President has also been touring parts of the country on a Thank You tour appreciating the love Ghanaians showed him during the 2020 election.
His tour has taken him to the middle belt and the Northern part of the country where he also preached vigilance as the key to their victory in the 2024 election hinting that he will be a polling agent during the election.
