Cooking, washing, ironing, other chores are ‘duties’ for women; men are only breadwinners – IRBARD

Security Expert and Muslim influencer Ibrahim Irbard has argued that in a marriage, it is the duty of the woman to do all the household chores while the man concentrates on providing bread and other needs of the home.

Delivering a short message of encouragement and advice at the marriage of Alhaji Sheikh Abdul Rasheed last month which video is trending, Mr. Ibrahim argues that a man’s main responsibility is to be a breadwinner while the woman cooks, washes, irons clothing among others to keep the home going.

The man on his part has a duty to go out there and sweat to bring money home to feed the family.

Irbard Ibrahim however admonished men to “romantic” by lending a helping hand to the women but that is not his core duty as a married man.

Irbard Ibrahim encouraged the newly married couple to be each others keeper and urged the lady to be a good wife to her husband and vice versa.

In the short Message at the Nikkah, to quote Irbard:

“Cooking, washing and ironing are a wife’s responsibility. A man is only encouraged to lend a helping hand but those are not his responsibilities. His is to provide daily bread and protection to the family.”

Irbard also argued that it is mostly advisable to let the woman rest at home even if she is working. The husband can make her stop work so that she can properly take care of the home. He spoke in the Hausa language.
