AUDIO: They ate my food, took my envelopes but still voted against me – Juaben MCE nominee wails
The failed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) nominee for Juaben in the Ashanti region, Alex Sarfo Kantanka has taken a swipe at the assembly members who voted to reject his nomination by a whopping 20 out of 26 ballots yesterday for deceiving him.
The nominee who is the current chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Juaben Constituency in an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com this morning rubbished claims by some of the assembly members that he lost due to the divisions in the party and his abrasive relationship with some of the constituents.
He rather attributed his defeat to a wicked agenda harbored against him by some strongmen in the party, because he deems himself to be on good terms with everybody; he also said all the necessary consultations were made before the voting so the results came as a shock to him.
“I met all of them at Anita Hotel with one catholic priest, a pastor and two powerful chiefs; in fact, they assured me that they will give me a massive endorsement; some of them even said they wanted to acclaim me right there. But after eating and drinking with me, and taking my envelopes, they still voted against me”.
“I think we should really sit down to find out how it happened; he added.
But the assemblyman for the Adumasa Electoral Area, Hon. Patrick Yeboah who also spoke in the interview insisted that the chairman’s consultations before the voting was weak, amidst deep cracks in the rank and file of the NPP.
