AUDIO: Intelligence showed that I will lose but I ignored it – Rejected MCE-nominee confesses
The rejected Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) nominee for Atwima Nwabiagya South in the Ashanti region, Michael Amoah Awuku has opened up about the circumstances that led to his defeat at the elections last week.
Mr. Michael Amoah Awuku was rejected by the Assembly Members last, Friday, though he was not a new candidate to them since he had been in that office for the past four years.
19 voted YES and 12 NO falling short of the required mark of a two-thirds majority.
Per the Local Government laws, the rejected nominee has a second chance of voting in 10 days’ time; he would therefore be facing the assembly members again next Monday.
Speaking with KT on Angel In The Morning monitored by Mynewsgh.com today, Michael Amoah Awuku said he ignored the warning signs before the election because he thought he could fight them with his own strength.
He said his defeat was sponsored by persons who have since his first appointment harbored hatred against him; he partly accused the other six persons who were contending against him during the vetting as some of the masterminds of his defeat.
He added that he has now learnt his lessons and has been consulting with the chief and all other stakeholders ahead of his second attempt next week.
Meanwhile, renowned journalist Lord Inusah Lansah has been confirmed as the Municipal Chief Executive for Old Tafo, after polling 21 out of a possible 24 votes representing 87.5%.
Party Chairman Samuel Oduro Frimpong was also confirmed as the MCE for Ejisu after polling 95% of the votes to replace Beatrice Serwaa Derchie in that office.
In the Sekyere East District, party chairman Osei Adiyiah garnered all 38 votes to win the election with 100%; he replaces Mary Boatemaa Marfo.
