Politicians who couldn’t afford taxi fare in 2016 now own Airport apartments – A Plus reveals
Musician and political activist Kwame Asare Obeng, widely known as A Plus, has revealed that politicians who could hardly fend for themselves about four years ago, now own apartment buildings and houses in expensive areas of Accra, demanding that such politicians ought to be investigated for their overnight riches.
A Plus made the revelation while responding to a call by a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Francis Dodovi, that young man who flaunts riches all of a sudden ought to be investigated for their source of wealth.
For A Plus, beyond the young men, politicians who become wealthy in record time ought to be investigated and even old persons who show off their wealth ought to also be investigated. He outlines other groups of persons and occurrences that need to be investigated.
“Okay we hear. What about investigating politicians who could not afford taxi fare in opposition but own apartments and houses at places like airport hills in just 4 years? What about investigating why the youth are poor and how to give them jobs? What about investigating why Nabco employees have not been paid for months? What about investigating how excavators vamoosed into thin air?
Which crime must be investigated? A young person driving a big car or a highways engineer who takes money and approved payment for a substandard road which washed away when kids pee on it? And what about old people who drive big cars? Have you seen any shrine which has an age limit written at the entrance?” He wondered.
Mr Dodovi had called on security officers to investigate wealthy young men who appear to have no known source of wealth, bemoaning the glorification of ill-gotten wealth.
His assertion has split opinions, with many asking that politicians be investigated first.
