It’s becoming very problematic – Deputy Minister laments delay in MMDCEs list

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency and Deputy Minister of Employment And Labour Relations, Lawyer Bright Wireko Brobbey has observed that the delay in the appointment of the  Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) at the various local assemblies is very problematic.

In January this year, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuafo-Addo through the Chief of Staff directed all the former Metropolitan, Municipal and Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to remain at post in acting capacities until new ones are appointed.

But the lawmaker has said that caretaker MMDCES are handicapped and have no mandate to award contracts and as a result, most of the uncompleted infrastructural projects are at a standstill.

Lawyer Wireko Brobbey at the delegates conference of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) disclosed “We have been talking to the President to as a matter of urgency speed up and bring out the list of the appointed MMDCES because the caretaker ones are handicapped”

He mentioned the uncompleted Jukwa market, bridge and other developmental projects by the assembly as examples and promised to use his position as MP for the area to complete those projects.

Touching on Agenda 111 Hospital facilities, he revealed that he is lobbying to secure 15 acres of land which costs millions of cedis out of his own resources so the area could benefit.

On his part, the chairman for Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency of NPP, Mr. Timothy Terry Tweneboah bemoaned internal bickering within the party in the area warning that it has the tendency of affecting party cohesion
