Tokyo Olympics: Ghana’s Nadia Eke bows out after unsuccessful jumps
Ghanaian triple jumper Nadia Eke has exited the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games after three unsuccessful jumps in Friday’s preliminary round event.
The 28-year-old Columbia University graduate was making her Olympics debut but it did not go as planned. Her feet had crossed the stepping board before making the jumps.
She is Ghana’s triple jump record holder with her 14.33 meters jump in 2019 in Jamaica.
Eke has hinted she wants to quit the sport after the Olympics after winning gold at the 2016 Durban African Championships and silver in 2014 at the same competition in Marrakech.
This is too bad. She has said she’s leaving the sport after the Tokyo Games but I imagine this is not how she would have wanted to leave. But she should still be proud she got to go to the Olympics, a lifetime dream. All the best for the future, Nadia! #Tokyo2020 #TeamGhana 🇬🇭 https://t.co/82pXJyvcAn
