5 Armed Robbers strike on Wenchi highway killing 1 person, 4 others in critical condition

One person has been confirmed dead and five others including a taxi driver have sustained severe gunshot injuries after being attacked by armed robbers Subinso – Nchiraa road in the Wenchi Municipality

Two of the victims said to be in critical condition have been rushed to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital where they are on admission receiving treatment while the others are at the Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi

MyNewsGh.com gathered that Opel Astra taxi cab with registration number GW 4850 X which was en route to Nchiraa from Subinso II was attacked by the masked robbers numbering 5 who shot at the driver after he failed to stop when flagged.

One of the victims, Ofosu Nuamah who is 50 years old mason said, the incident occurred on Saturday evening between 7 and 8 pm.

According to him the robbers rushed to the middle of the road and started firing indiscriminately when they sensed the driver was not prepared to stop.

Medical director at Wenchi Methodist Hospital, Dr. Oman confirmed to local journalist Nana Anfreh Damanta that the victims were brought to the facility at about 8 pm on Saturday.

“They were four, one was in a critical condition one reported dead before arrival at the hospital while two people have been sustained injuries, Dr. Oman said.

He further explained that the one in a critical condition have been referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

No arrest has been made so far.
