Police kill two armed robbers at Ofankor in a shootout
The Police in Accra has killed two armed robbers at Ofankor on the night of 29th September 2020, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.
The two criminals were reported to have engaged the police in a shootout but died in the process as the police returned fire.
The Police reveal the two unidentified criminals had attacked a gentleman at the entrance of his gate, robbed him and left him to his fate around 10:30 pm. They took away a Samsung mobile phone and cash and sped off.
After the incident, the gentleman is said to have called on the Mile 7 police for assistance.
The Police activated its search signals for possible apprehension. They were later spotted around the St. John’s SHS on the Ofankor-Achimota Main Road on a motorbike and in an attempt to apprehend them, they pulled out a pistol but they were gunned down in a fire encounter.
The victim came to identify the bodies as the same persons who attacked him.
In a related development, another lady who from Tantra Hill- Accra with a severe cut on her hand who reported a robbery attack on her same night and identified the deceased persons as those who accosted her at the entrance of her gate and snatched her bag from her. They inflicted the wound on her hand, took her bag and jumped on a parked motorbike and sped off.
The bodies of the two have been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary for identification and autopsy as investigations continue.
