Akufo-Addo sacks Sisala West DCE

The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revoked the appointment of Hon. Zakaria Mohammed as the District Chief Executive(DCE) for the Sisala West District in the Upper West Region.

Information on what led to his sack few months to the end of the government’s first term is sketchy.

But In 2018, Executives of NPP in the District called on the President to sack him because although he’s the biggest beneficiary of the 2016 election victory, he has been the weakest link in the party.

Executives of the party made several allegations against him for including his affluent lifestyle in the District when the grassroot which is the base of the party is suffering and his refusal to visit some communities for reasons best known to him.

But a letter signed by the Local Government Minister said “His Excellency the President in accordance of Article 243 (3)B of the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana Section 20 of the Local Government Act 936 has revoked the appointment of Hon. Bakor Zakaria Mohammed for the Sisala West District Assembly with immediate effect”.

The letter directed that the Regional Minister takes over from the vacant position until a substantive District Chief Executive is nominated by the President.
