Winning Songwriter of the year thrice doesn’t come cheap – Kofi Kinaata
For the third time in the history of the Ghana Music Awards, Kofi Kinaata born Martin King Arthur has been adjudged as the Songwriter of the year at the 2020 VGMA.
Previously winning with Susuka and Confession, he won this time around with his mega hit song Things Fall Apart, the mind-blowing and thoughtful song that even little children can sing and relate to on any day.
For the records, it is certain that every time Kofi Kinaata has been nominated in the VGMA Songwriter of the year category, he will definitely take the plaque home after achieving such feat in 2016, 2017 and 2020.
Speaking with Amansan Krakye in an exclusive interview on GBC Radio Central monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Kofi Kinaata was asked if it’s certain that anytime he’s nominated for Songwriter of the year, he’ll surely take the award home.
He responded “Winning songwriter of the year every time I’m nominated depends on the fans because they are the ones who do the voting.
“Sometimes people can take their own decisions but you’d realize that the votes will be coming to the point that there is absolutely nothing they can do about it so they’d have to give it to me by all means.”
Despite not lifting the much touted ultimate award which is Artiste of the year, Kofi Kinaata was also awarded with the Highlife Song and Vodafone Most Popular song of the year.
