NDC’s spirit remains unbroken – Sam George marks anniversary of ‘bullet dodging’
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has that their fighting spirit is still strong in what is a commemoration of the anniversary of the Ayawaso Wuogon bye election violence.
Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam George who managed to dodge bullets based on his experience of watching war movies said: “We are not dogs, we are lions and will not relent; we will fight back and achieve justice. Our spirit remains unbroken and our resolve is strong as ever to speak justice.”
Speaking at the one-year commemoration service of the January 31, 2019 event, the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram stressed the party was relentless in its quest to seek justice.
According to Sam George, their decision to sue President Nana Akufo-Addo over the White Paper on the Emile Short’s Commission report on the Ayawaso West Wuogon violence.
President Akufo-Addo, following the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election in February 2019, tasked a three-member commission to investigate the violence that marred the by-election on January 31, 2019.
The Commission, chaired by Justice Emile Short, made several recommendations that were expected to be implemented by the government.
However, the government in September 2019, issued a White Paper and rejected some of the recommendations of the Commission.
